Day 12: Wiiiiii #NHBPM

Today I get to tell you about my favorite health related game. It would be really easy to say it’s Pandemic 2 but I’ll try to take it seriously.

I don’t use it as often as I should, but I freaking love my Wii Fit.

FEEL THE BURN

Not only are there “normal” workouts like yoga or strengthening exercises like pictured above, but there are all sorts of games and tasks you can do like skateboarding or segwaying (I’m not kidding) or even extreme hula hooping. The things are usually pretty easy to do, even if you are having a tougher day. Clearly some of them – like free running – aren’t maybe the best for us. But rhythmic kung fu totally makes up for that.

It’s like I’m back in high school!

One of the things I like the most about it is that there is a focus more on how strengthening your body and working on your posture and balance helps to make you healthy. Sure, they do also focus on weight and BMI but that isn’t the main focus. With a gigantic BMI I can totally appreciate that.

It was worth the extra money for the board and game to me – despite the fact that I barely use it. I also barely use our gym membership that costs us 60 bucks a month. Having the Wii Fit allows me the ability to not feel like I need to leave the house to try to workout – which is important since sometimes I want to workout but leaving the house or driving isn’t necessarily the best or easiest thing for me to do.

Wii!

Back in December, I learned that you could do layaway at Sears but start your layaway online instead of having to be present in the store. You can then make payments online and pick up your items after 8 weeks. You could pay it off sooner if you wanted to, but most people I’ve dealt with in layaways don’t.

I’ve wanted a Wii for a long time, but I’m finally in a position where I have a little more disposable income to do fun things like that. Plus, it’s been tough for me lately to head off to the gym and not overdo it, so I thought that the Wii Fit Plus would really help me out.

I picked up the Wii yesterday, and I spent about an hour and a half today working out between Wii Fit Plus and Grand Slam Tennis.

It was AMAZING.

I felt good today, and that is pretty amazing too. Hopefully, this week will be easier to get through with work and not taking the MTX this weekend.

M is for Migraine

That sucks life out of me. Or kinda.

I’ve been having horrible migraines lately. I think it’s wisdom tooth related, but who knows. Nothing helps. My migraine meds only make things worse for about an hour before knocking me out. And I definitely need stronger pain meds than ibuprofen.

BUT!

One of my favorite things to do – especially when I’m in pain – is to play video games. Usually, it’s hard for me to focus on reading – especially in pain. And I’m a visual person who definitely enjoys the movements and graphics of the latest games.

I like games where I can really get into the characters. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mario games and whatever, but deep games are awesome.

Let me introduce you to my new favorite game, Heavy Rain. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure type of dark noir game (the best combination ever). You switch between four main characters trying to put an end to a serial killer before the next victim (one character’s son) bites the dust.

I don’t want to spoil it (and I’m not done yet!), so check out the link above if you want it to stay a mystery. Otherwise, you can check out the Wiki too.
